This study was taken from a 2 foot tall cast aluminium figure of an ape in the Whitby Museum. The ape sculpture had original been on display as a piece of public art on the steps of the local railway but was subsequently stolen. The figure was discovered 1 year later in a unrelated police raid and has since found his current residence at an empty side staircase at the Whitby museum. The figure has such an expressive face and anthropomorphic presence, and due to his interesting story me and some other students decided to affectionately name him 'Ian'.
